At the first part of the movie you see Lester’s daughter Jane, talking to the neighbour’s son, Ricky. Jane says that Lester would be better off dying and Ricky asks if she wants him to kill her father.
Presentation:
The story is about Lester Burnham and his wife, Carolyn and their daughter, Jane. Their family life is falling apart and Lester is growing tired of his boring life. Carolyn is also growing tired of her unsatisfying boring life and not to mention sexlife. Their daughter Jane is having a hart time fitting in and finds interest in the new neighbour’s son. The Burnham’s living on a quiet suburban street, but things don’t always look as they seem.
Elaboration:
When Lester looks at his daughter’s new friend, Angela, he falls in love and becomes obsessed with her. He overhears a conversation that Jane and Angela is having, and finds out that Angela would “totally do him” if he were to work out some more. He also starts smoking marijuana that the neighbour’s son is providing to liberate himself from all the troubles. Meanwhile Carolyn is having a hot affair with a big real estate tycoon which brings back her wild side. She also starts shooting witch gives her a sense of power. Jane and the neighbour boy Ricky is also slowly falling in love with each other. Ricky films Jane constantly and finds her really interesting, but at first Jane gets scared of him, and rejects him. But over a period of time she begins to open up and show her true colours. But Ricky has an abusive father that beats him up and is very strict. But Ricky’s father is actually having big personal problems witch he forgets by letting his frustrations out on his son.
