People often ask me how Mark is as a person. I always reflect back on February 4th, 2004, when I was only in college. I had met Mark Zuckerberg twice before that day. Once when a guy from the football team pushed him away from the line at the men’s room. And once passing him in the hall. I did know his friend though. Eduardo, he had invited me to their dorm that night. He said something about a great idea Mark had, just how big this idea was going to be I didn’t know. When I got to their room they both had their eyes deep in the computer screens. It was just me, Eduardo and Mark sitting in a college room. Mark said that he wanted to connect the entire campus, nothing like the teambuilding events that we did once every year. No, Mark knew that the future was online. Even though Mark was a strange guy sometimes, he did know a thing or two about computers. He had coded a whole website together, all you had to do was post a photo and write your name. He called the website “The Facebook” We sent the link to everyone at the campus, and word got around quickly. Everybody was joining “The Facebook” I remember feeling kind of blessed to be there that night. I was never big on computers but seeing Mark coding and hitting the keyboard in different ways was still very fascinating. I obviously joined the site immediately and was soon connecting with people all the way from south to west campus. That night 15 years ago is still a strong memory, and it’s a pretty cool story to tell. How you were there when one of the biggest websites of this generation was put online. They also made a movie about Mark and Eduardo, even though I wasn’t featured it is still a good watch. These days Facebook has got some problems with these data rumors, Facebook stealing your personal stuff and probably other accusations I haven’t discovered. I don’t know if it is true, but I do know Mark. He would never just steal stuff, not without a bigger purpose at least.
