Neil has always been interested in flights and space. Therefore, worked several places to earn money to be able to pay for flying lessons. Already on Neil’s 16th years birthday he got his flying license and was now able to fly 200 different types of flights.

Before moon landing

After finishing college Neil studied engineering at Purdue University and graduated in 1955. He was hardworking and focused in everything he did and was a respected guy everywhere he worked. He had 78 missions while serving the U.S army in the Korean war. After serving the U.S army in 1961 he joined NASA and became an astronaut. He was chosen to be the first commander to make a connection between a satellite and a space rocket out of our atmosphere. The mission was called the Gemini program. The got canceled because of technical problems. In 1967 tree chosen NASA astronauts began to train for the Apollo program. The cockpit exploded out in fire and the 3 astronauts died. Afterwards Neil got contacted and was asked to be the commander in Apollo 11 and the first man on the moon.

On the 17th of July 1969 Neil and his two collages stepped into the Apollo 11 which was the rocket that should bring them to the moon. The takeoff went perfectly and 4 days later Apollo 11 was in circuit around the moon. When they landed on the lunar surface Neil said the famous words “the eagle has landed”. 2 hours after the landing Neil stepped out on the moon and said “this I a small step for a man, but a giant leap for the mankind” in front of more than a billion people watching from earth. In the 2 hours they had on the moon they walked around and collected moon sand to bring back home for tests. They flied back on earth 8 hours after landing and dropped down in the Pacific Ocean 8 days after the mission started.
