Apollo 11 missionen og Neil Armstrong

The mission (Apollo 11) was created by President John F. Kennedy, on May 25, 1961. The mission was about landing on the moon, and return to the Earth alive.

The Apollo 11 launched from Cape Kennedy on july 16, 1969, on board where the commander Neil Armstrong, pilot Michael Collin and the Lunar´s pilot Edwin Aldrin

it is expected that around 530 million people watched Armstrong´s televised image and heard his voice describe the event as he took ´´ one small step for a man, but one giant leap for mankind´´ on july 20, 1969.

Armstrong and Aldrin where on the moon surface for 21 hours and 36 minutes. And seven of the hours they were sleeping.

The landing was very rough, they landed in the Pacific Ocean the 24 July, 1969. And the ship the picked them up was named USS Hornet.

Neil Armstrong

Astronaut and military pilot Neil Armstrong. Born on 5, 1930, near Wapakoneta, Ohio. Neil Armstrong made history by becoming the first man to walk on the moon.

Armstrong began his studies at Purdue University on a U.S. Navy scholarship. His studies, however, were interrupted in 1949 when he was called to serve in the Korean War as a U.S. Navy pilot.
