In the short story pill pusher, we follow the narrator who currently is employed in a pharmacy. It is just an ordinary day at the pharmacy, but the narrator is having negative thoughts about himself and the job. While in this negative headspace there Suddenly comes an older woman to buy some medicine for her eight-year-old daughter. the narrator asks if the child will be alright eating these large pills, which the mother of the daughter now answers with a no and asks if the pharmacy has it in liquid form instead of pill form. The narrator can’t help with this and it cannot be done since the lady will need a new prescription from their doctor. The lady is very mad that things aren’t going her way and start to insult the narrator. The narrator is in a difficult situation and in the heat of the moment he is accidentally letting his mouth talk with no thinking and shouts at the woman. This incident leaves the narrator in a lot of doubt and he is now thinking about other job opportunities. The pharmacy is calm again, and the narrator calls the doctor who immediately sign the prescription for the woman’s daughter. the woman apologizes to the narrator for screaming, this is no problem for the narrator and tell her that it happens to all of us.
