The short story “Pill Pusher” is written by Carolyn A. Drake and was published in 2016. The short story takes place at the Walgreens Pharmacy where the main character is working. The main character has worked at the pharmacy for two years and still pays of the narrators 70.000 dollars student loan and the narrators starts regretting her six years of education. At work a customer gets impatient and demands har medication now. The customer is angry and starts yelling and the main character tries to be understating but ends up yelling back. In the end while getting the medication for the costumer the main character finds out that the costumer’s daughter has leukemia and that is why she is angry and impatient.

There are hundreds of different educations that can lead to thousands of different employments all over the world, but Education is expensive, and it is easy to end up with massive student loans that can take years to pay off. Therefore, is it important to make the right choices in which career path you want to pursue the first time. But what if the path you choose wasn’t the right one after all? The short story “Pill Pusher” by Carolyn A. Drake deals with the consequences it has on a person if the career pursued wasn’t the right one and how the choice can have an impact on a person.
