Summary of Ernest Hemingway's 'Indian Camp'

SUMMARY This story is about an Indian man, Nick, and his father, who's a doctor. They’re travelling across borders to help a woman give birth because she's been struggling for two days. They’re assisted by their uncle George. The father had to operate the women to get the baby out. After that, he had to sow the incision/caesarean he had made. Throughout this whole time, Nick looked away. He was quiet and disgusted by everything and really didn’t seem very interested in this whole doctor thing. Afterward, he discovers that the woman's husband, who was in the bunk above hers, silently cut his throat during the painful ordeal. As they turned back to the lake Nick asked his dad a lot about death. And therefor he now believed that he was never going to die.
