Social mobility is a state of term and movement for individuals, families, households and categories of people within social strata in a society. It is a term for people being able to change the social status relative to the current social location given by the society. It is a way for people being able to climb the social and economic ladder, to move from one social class to another, and normally to a much better one. It gives people the ability to move forward in life, and to create a better life for yourself, your family or your household. Social mobility is any change in a social position, the movement can be in a downward or upwards direction depending on the choices you make in life. Moving upwards of the social ladder is usually influences by education, better-paying jobs and by economic dynamics.

The differences between the social classes has always been present in Britain, but as a tourist of the city it isn’t something you notice at all. Britain has always been a city with a reputation of being a little “posh”. But if you take a look around the city today, you can see the once very mentioned “posh” city has a lot of struggling citizens. In the last decades, there has been an ongoing debate about upwards social mobility is getting worse, which means that more people would be unable to climb the social ladder and change their social status to something better.
