Dear fellow students. My name is [NAVN A], and just like you I study here at Columbia University. First of all, I want to say that It’s an absolute honor to be here, and I am truly delighted that I have gotten the chance to be able to speak to you today. The main reason why I’m so glad to be here is because, that I get to throw some light on a topic that I believe is very relevant right now. Obviously, it’s probably no secret to anybody here, that the world is in a face of change right now. First of all, I want to say that the saying “the climate Is changing” isn’t just an opinion of mine. It’s a fact and we have been able confirm these suspicions along the way, by numerous studies that have proven that the climate has evolved, and is evolving drastically.
Due to the fact that the climate is evolving heavily, President Obama has launched an action plan to help reduce the amount of greenhouse gasses that goes in to our atmosphere by a third within 15 years. It’s not a secret to anybody that the greenhouse gas emissions, are dangerous for our planet. It’s a major reason why the temperatures are rising so heavily. Another issue that Obama characterizes as very important, is the serious natural consequences that comes with the climate change. We have to use even more money to deal with the damage, that these natural disasters cause because of the climate change. For example, lately we have seen some serious wildfires and hurricanes, and the consequences requires many resources both financially to rebuild, and many people are out there risking their lives to deal with these natural disasters. Like I said, the climate change is a serious thing and Obama is trying to reduce the damage that climate change causes, with his clean power plan. He looks at the situation with great importance, and is very keen on reducing the amount of carbon dioxide that goes in to our atmosphere. Carbon dioxide isn’t really what you would call an environment conscious material. For example, when we charge our phones and computers carbon dioxide emissions will occur. Many people are actually not aware of this, but like oil and coal, which are things that emits, the process of charging your phone will release emissions also.
