Yesterday I interviewed Joel Davis. Joel Davis was nominated for Young People of the Year 2014. Joel Davis is from Islington, London, Great Britain. Joel Davis was born in 1995, and he expressed himself that: “My family was very poor, and I was always helping my sick mom”. He continues with: “It made studying in school very hard for me”. I could see in his eyes that he began to get emotional. “It was a very hard time for me, because I didn´t get any help”. He cut of here as he couldn’t talk about it anymore.
Later on I got to talk with him again, and this time he added: “This hard time in my life inspired me to set up the Homework Help”. Joel have helped 170 children, and achievements have definitely been made. Poor children’s grades have gone up after they´ve been at the Homework Help. Volunteering university students are the “teachers” at the Homework Help. And Joel´s idea has now been spread, and more Homework Help places have popped up in Great Britain. Joel was the lucky winner of 500 pounds for his work. Joel also got help from one of his best friends to set up a website where he shared the idea.
