In this short story we meet Kelley who’s a student at Stanford University, on a trip back to Stanford where she meets the elder gentleman who kindly drives her back to the university. The story is written in 3rd person and is made by the writer Jeffrey Archer. The 3rd person narrator follows Kelleys life from the train to Stanford. We’re around the 1960’s or 70’s because John is throughout talking about his life and how he have met JFK and Martin Luther King Jr. and how he’s describing that he almost have been shipped to Vietnam. Also that kelley describes some her idols within the Modern American Literature in the story. In the text are there described that it’s in the state California, “short journey from Salinas to Palo Alto, who were often willing to share their experiences with a stranger they were unlikely to meet again.” where it is described is that it’s the journey from Salinas to Palo Alto, which is in California. When it comes to the text it’s very realistic, because of the real events that are explained as the Vietnam war and how he has met both John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr.
