The way to achieving one´s dreams is portrayed in “A wasted hour” - a short story written by Jeffrey Archer. The short story is about a Stanford student, Kelly, that has a dream about being a famous writer. Since she was a little girl, she always knew what she wanted in life and that was writing. She doesn’t want to be a burden for her parents, so she preferred to thumb a ride back to Stanford rather than take a bus or train. She also preferred to thumb a ride, because she finds it fascinating to hear stranger’s life story. In the story she meets an older man that tells a fascinating story of his life, which Kelly finds especially interesting because the man and her shares an interest in writing and experience. In my analytical essay, there will be an analysis focusing on narration and point of view, characterization, theme and message.
