She is number one in the queue she has her baby with her as for her to swing easily to ward. She has been number 1 in the queue for 4 days. She knows what she will spend the money on first she will pay off her debt in the store. She'll spend almost all her money on it. So there might be someone left this time. When the man opens the door to the post office she sees the beautiful pile of letters she looks them all through slowly to make sure there are no mistakes. After looking through the letters she does not find her name she does not know what to do now all her day depended on the money. So she decides to go into town again. When the bus comes she rises along with the others but the men who get off are urban people. She doesn't know them so she doesn't choose to ask questions. She puts her baby in a seat and looks at herself in the shade, thinking "I'm not ready to leave the bus station by now". A man enters the bus from her village, waving to her and she jumps up and as she jumps up the baby wakes up and she bends over the baby to make it quiet. While driving the bus, she thinks about what her husband is doing. One of her girlfriends once told her that the men in town were cooking, washing clothes and sleeping in the same room. And on weekends, they went to town parties. Everyone knows the stories and some of them make her angry as she thinks the other women are treating him like he has no wife. Her own husband had been unable to pay her lobola. He wished she had gone the same way as most couples do. She had persuaded her parents to wait for her dowry and for her and her husband to get married. She has a secret for her husband and it is that they need a son she does not tell him because he will be disappointed. She keeps thinking about whether her husband has another girlfriend from home. As she is in the hospital, many children come in and look to her she loves caring for children when she was younger she and her girlfriends took care of the children in the village. She began to understand why all the old people said it was hard to live on earth.
