The story is about an intelligent little boy and his butler who is trying to get the wealth of the boy’s family back.

The story’s protagonist is a very intelligent 12 years old boy named Artemis, he has a criminal mindset and he knows of the super natural universe and knows everything about fairies and their magic. He is a tall and skinny boy with pale skin, and it is easy to see that he uses most of his time behind a computer screen. Artemis comes from a rich but criminal family and Butler is like a father to him. Artemis is a very selfish boy, and he has an almost psychopathic nature. He has a sarcastic sense of humor and its very unusual to hear him tell a joke. He is also aware of this fact himself because it says in the text “He’d made a joke. Now there’s something that didn’t happen every day”.

Artemis is the protagonist because the whole story evolves around him and how he plans to get his hands on the ‘’fairybook’’ so he can use the magic described in it to get his family’s wealth back.

The character named Butler is a round character because we hear about him and his family’s past. Butler is a Eurasian bodyguard and he descends from a long line of Butlers and servant to Fowlers. He was at the age of 10 sent to a private training center in Israel. It is mentioned in this quote “At the age of ten, Butler children were sent to a private training center in Israel, where they were taught the specialized skills necessary to guard the latest in the Fowl line’’
