Charlie is a quiet, introvert and intelligent 16-year-old boy who likes to read. The time on the high school is therefore not quite easily, and he has ended up as a so-called wallflower. He gets to take care of himself when he is not actually being bullied. In a series of letters addressed to an anonymous ' you ', he portrays the book through his first year at high school, where he after his only friend's suicide terror which define must try to navigate against the alien adulthood in her changing body. It's time for the first dates, parties and much more, and when Charlie meets the right people, this is where his life really gets started. He can no longer be part of the wallpaper, but must, for the first time, see how the world looks from the dance floor. The perks of being a wallflower is a fantastic youth novel that puts adolescence in perspective and tells a wonderful story.
