Hello, my fellow students and thank you all for coming here today. My name is [NAVN A] and I am also a student here at Stanford University just in case some of you did not know. For the next half an hour I will be talking to you about some of McDonald’s current problems and their suggested solutions on these, and if their new strategy and their solutions will have a positive impact.
So, I found out that McDonald’s sales are dropping more than ever and this problem is caused by multiple reasons. In 2014 McDonald’s experienced their biggest sales drop in 14 years which forced McDonald’s to come up with new initiatives and to develop and improve their brand and image.
The biggest problem is that people want to eat healthier and they want fresh food instead of fast food nowadays. McDonald’s solution to this problem was to introduce “Create your taste” for the customers. “Create your taste” is a new digitized initiative which allows the customer to build their own burger from scratch. This initiative should reach out to a very wide target group as people nowadays are much more aware of what they eat, and now they are all in charge of every single piece of their burger. This digitized initiative leads me to another implement McDonald’s is working on, which is to be a true leader of the digital space. This includes store renovations and technology upgrades such as improved mobile apps and Apple Pay. These improvements are a part of what McDonald’s call “Experience of the Future” and all this is implemented in hope of a future with better sales figures and to create a new image against the customers.
