Capital punishment: history and debate

From the high middle Ages to the beginning of 1900, capital punishment was spread over Europe. In England between 1660 and 1820 there became capital punishment for 190 new offences. In 1500 and 1600 a lot of women got executed for witchcraft. That also applied in the North. In the North, in the 1700, capital punishment specially became practice opposite against child murder. That implied that the hardest punishment, continuo used against a lot of women – Too many personally it was the maids. In the new history of the punish court, is the biggest changes, that the women had felled more and more out of the picture, as victims for hard punishment.

In England many people mend that capital punishment didn’t worked enough shocking, and then came various suggestions, for this purpose. Bishop Paley expressed himself in this way: “If you could find a way to execute in, which would increase the horror for the improper show of the dead, it could contribute to something to the examples power… Something like what we described before, was it a suggestion which was proposed not so long ago, about throwing murderers into a cave together with wild animals, when they in some way would die, it was terrible in the fantasy, and still out of nowhere.
