In the first speech we meet Barack Obama. His speech is for the graduate class year 2020. He addresses the congratulatory students, also the teachers, the coaches, parents, and family. The speech is all about the future, and about how Obama does not set any limits to all the possibilities that are further out in life. Obama also gives a lot of advice and guidance that you can take with you on your way. Among them he mentions: “First, do not be afraid. America has gone through hard times before. Slavery, civil war, famine, disease, the Great Depression and 9/11. Each time we came out stronger. Usually because a new generation - young people like you - learned from past mistakes and figured out how to make things better. Second, do what you think is right” (ll.81- 86). Obama emphasizes that you take a stand on something and then in the end you always must do what you think is the right thing to do. His advice is to follow your heart and he mention that it is important that you dare to make mistakes, because you only learn from that.
“All of which means that you’re going to have to grow u faster than some generations” (ll.58-59) He says in the speech that it is important that you develop and get something out of your later adult life which is also a good message to take with you.
