The blame she feels for giving up her child is shown by the way she can't "take a gander at him" as she is planning to leave. The story is written as a straight narrative. Her work is a digest of her research and interviews with virtually all of the book´s real-life ¨characters¨ set in the present tense to convey the immediacy of the events. She added the full names of many individuals, such as Agueda Amalia Valladares and Marco Antonio Zablah, which affirmed the journalistic nature of this effort.
