Recently our beloved Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, born as Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark has passed away. He lived in the Buckingham Palace until he passed away on the 9th of April 2021 at the Age of 99 years. The cause of death is currently not known to the public, but it has been said, that he died peacefully.
Prince Philip was born on the 10th of June 1921 in Corfu, Greece. He started his education at an American school in Paris. In the year of 1930 young Phillip was sent to the Cheam School in the United Kingdom, where he lived with his grandmother Victoria Mountbatten and his uncle George Mountbatten. His mother had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, which made Philip unable to see her much during his childhood. Soon, in 1933, Prince Philip was sent to Germany, where he attended Schule Schloss Salem. After the Nazis had their uprise in Germany Prince Philip moved to Gordonstoun School in Scotland where he finished in 1939.
After that he attended the Royal Naval college, Dartmouth where he graduated in 1940 as the best cadet of his course. During the 2nd world war Prince Philip was a midshipman. He started the war in the Indian Ocean and was later transferred to the Mediterranean Fleet. In 1942 Prince Philip was promoted to lieutenant at the age of 21 years and in 1944 he was transferred to the pacific. After Japan surrendered Prince Philip finally returned to the United Kingdom in 1946. On the 20th of November Prince Philip married Princes Elisabeth and from there on he was know as the Duke of Edinburgh, the Earl of Merioneth and the Baron Greenwich. Prince Philip returned to the Navy after his honeymoon. In he was promoted to commander in 1952 and ended his career with the following ranks: Admiral of the Fleet, Field Marshal, Marshal of the Royal Air Force, Captain General Royal Marines and Commander.
