Hi today we would like to tell you about Steve Biko, a Freedom Fighter.
[NAVN C], [NAVN B] and [NAVN A]
Why did we choose Biko?
We chose Steve Biko, because Steve was one of the first Freedom Fighters to make a big change, his freedom fights dating back to the 1960’s, back then most black people didn’t do anything about racism in South Africa at all, so he was a wakeup call for South Africans to do something about the racism. He overall had a big impact on South African culture today, with him having a statue of himself in East London. Biko was a wonderful person too, and he would make friends with almost every person who has got to know him in any kind of way, as we see in Cry Freedom with Donald Woods, who at first didn’t like him at all, but didn’t take long to start liking Biko.
Where did we get the idea?
We got the idea earlier in the year when we had about South Africa in our English lessons, it was here we learned about Nelson Mandela and also Steve Biko. When we had to choose a subject to write about, we decided on Steve Biko since the subject fascinated us quite a bit. We thought it would be a good subject to tell about since it is very original and very informing.
