The short story “Gravel” is about an unnamed narrator, who tells a story from their childhood, who goes through alot in her life..

In the beginning of the story we get a description of the place where the narrator lives.

The narrator lives in a trailer in the countryside , situated next to a gravel pit that is out of use.

The narrator lives with her mother, her sister Caro, their dog Blitzee, and a man named Neal.

The narrator reveals that her father was an insurance agent who traveled a lot, and her mother volunteered as an usher at the summer theater.

The mothers involvement with the theater seemed to change their lifestyle.

And at that time the narrator's father was supportive of his wife's new life, but she had an affair with Neal who was an actress at the theater. afterwards she became pregnant with Neal´s child and decided to leave her husband and takes Blitzee, Caro and the narrator with her to the trailer with Neal.
