I arrived at the camp on Friday like all the other workers. The kids would be coming tomorrow. We came a day before to arrange all the activities and make sure the different things weren’t broken. The camp got a lot of different activities. It got arts, athletics, outdoors and waterfront. We are stationed at the south bottom of Maine. It took us almost all day to set up the different activities. The camp also just got totally new golf clubs. The camp got their own soccer field, basketball court, tennis court, baseball field, archery, hockey field, volleyball court, gym, music room, arts, computer room and a laundry room. So, there was a lot of setting things up in the first day. We were about 25 workers. Some of them work voluntarily. I fell asleep fast that day.

The next morning my alarm rang at 9am. We got up. Ate breakfast and got ready. The kids would come in the timespan 10:30 am to 2 pm. My part in the first few hours was to get the kids to their cabins where they would be sleeping. They sleep 5-7 people in the same room. And they only sleep with their own gender. There wasn’t much planned the first day. After everyone showed up and everything got in place, we gathered at the campfire. Our head boss Mr. Jones would like to speak. His family have had the place since 1950. He made a wonderful speech about the camp and what the activities were and when they would be held. The camp was 3 weeks and there was a lot planned. The rest of the day, the campers got to know their new roommates. Each cabin had also 2 workers living there. The next day would be tree climbing. All the kids must get up at 8:30 am and be ready for breakfast at 9 am. The breakfast selection is good. There is scrambled eggs, cereal, and bread. What’s not to like? After breakfast we introduced how the day would be scheduled. They got split into teams. Each team is the cabin you live in, and they would be rotating to different activities all day long. There was a total of 12 cabins with 8 kids in each. So, 12 teams. 2 teams were at an activity at the same time. Cabin 3 is the cabin I am in, started at soccer. Then we would rotate each hour to a new activity. Each day we would they would be learning a big new activity. Today’s big activity was tree climbing. Since the camp was in a forest with big trees then it was a perfect activity. The kids were good at it. They got safety belts on and some special safety boots. It looked cool. The other kids also cheered each other up. It was only day one and they were already cheering each other up. When day 1 was over, the kids were used. They were all tired and they went to bed.
