First the Amish were together whit the Mennonites, but in 1693 the to parts split up. They split up because the Mennonites should shun the church members. Later the Amish were being persecuted through Europe by the Protestants and Catholics. Many people died the last of them hided in the mountains in Switzerland. In Switzerland their traditions about farming and worship in services. The Amish people accepted the William Penn’s offer of religious freedom as a part of his “holy experiment” of religious tolerance. Later they settled up in Pennsylvania. Today the Amish can be found in 23 states in USA. Since 1960 they have doubled up to 85.000 people.
Their clothes
All older woman and girls wear modest dresses. All dresses have sleeves and full skirt. They are covered with a cape and apron. They never cut hair, but they putt it up in a bun of the back of their hair. Men and boys always wear dark suit and a strait cut coats without lapels. A pair broad fall trousers, suspenders, solid colored shirts, black socks and shoe and a broad hat. They don’t have mustaches, but after they got married they have beards.
Education
The Amish school is only to 8th grade and in the school they only learn watts necessary for the adult world. The parents supervise what you should have in the school. The teachers are also Amish, and they also only have an 8th grade education. In 1972 there was a man there said that it was not fair that the Amish school only was to 8th grade, but the Amish have a special rule that it is okay that they only go to 8th grade.
