Amish Traditions

The Amish Church services are held every sunday, just like ours. Although There are some Differences, they dont go to Church, Church services are held in the homes of the Amish people. Wich means that every family hots's church about once a year. There are then different assignments for the host family, one could be taking the horses to the barn as people arrive. People congregate from age and gender, e.g. young boys in the barn, girls setting the table and the women in the kitchen. Men and women are seated in each side of the living room when church begins. Each of the Amish districs bring their own bsckless chairs in a chair wagon. The elder members and the ministers sit on more comfortable chairs. At 8:00 a.m. Worship begins, and usually last over three hours. There are around 7 preachers and bishops at one church service. While tha Amish people sing, the preachers and the bishops retire to a room where they decide who’s going to preach the two sermons that day.

It is told that the Amish singing is very beatiful, at well over 400 years old and 400 pages long, the Amish song book Ausbund is the most famous religious book of the Amish.
