Analyse af 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape'

Give a very thorough description of Gilbert at the beginning of the movie. His life, his relationships, how he feels about himself, his future, his mental health, his frustrations, his hopes and dreams. When you have done that, take a look at what has changed about Gilbert at the end of the movie. Both inside him and around him. What caused all these changes? How? - Gilbert in the beginning of the movie is not that happy, he is just working in the grocery store and has the same routine every single day. He is trying to work hard to keep his family up. Since his dad died there is no hope in his family, his mom doesn’t act like their mom its more like Gilbert and his sister is the parents in the house, which puts a lot of pressure on him, and he can’t even live his own life because there is always something on his way. Especially because he has the responsible of his disabled brother Arnie and his mother puts a lot of pressure and keeps saying that he must take care of him.

In the beginning its like that Gilbert is ashamed of his mom and just don’t care about his mom and he knows that everyone is laughing about her but, in the end, he understands more his mom and her actions which makes him feel bad and now he doesn’t want anyone to laugh at his mom.
