'A More Perfect Union': analyse af Obamas tale

The history of a country is untouchable, and great mediators use bygone to inspire the future. One inspirational man, known for his choice of words is Obama. Obama is a man of color, who made it his life goal to eliminate black-and-white disparity as good as his abilities allow. He praises all the earlier spokesmen who sacrificed their lives so that he can fight for a better, stronger America. He desires to rule a country united where skin color must never aggravate the chances you are offered and where the American dream holds everyone. He is certain that limiting the freedom of black people is a violation of human rights and the constitution that he talks about in his speech “a more perfect union”.

“Two hundred and twentyone years ago, in a hall that still stands across the street, a group of men gathered and, with these simple words, launched America's improbable experiment in democracy.” (ll. 1-3). These are the opening words in the speech “A more perfect union” by the former president of the United States The words pounded into the ears of the greater public and the democrats present at the convention in Philadelphia. The date is March 2008, and he is present because of the presidential election in 2008. Obama is describing how the constitution was created with democracy as the purest form of progression. He wants the listeners to follow through with the words held in the constitution regarding all liberty nevertheless it is undeclared for some and been for a long: “Of course, the answer to the slavery question was already embedded within our Constitution […] And yet words on a parchment would not be enough to deliver slaves from bondage, or provide men and women of every color and creed their full rights and obligations as citizens of the United States.” (ll. 13-14. - ll. 17-19.). He wants Americans to do better, be better.
