Alex was an exchange student in Spain. He didn't speak much Spanish, but he did speak English, so he’d be alright, he thought. He was wrong. When he arrived at his new school he had to go straight to class. Which, of course, was only in Spanish. He wasn't greeted by anyone. Obviously, he wasn't expecting a parade with banners or anything like that, but just someone who could show him around or something like that. It was alright, it wasn't the end of the world I mean wasn't the best first impression, but it would probably be better at lunch. Probably.
But Alex was wrong again. When he stood in the lunch hall with his tray, people only looked at him and whispered to their friends. One girl even laughed loudly after one of her friends whispered something he didn't hear. Everyone in the hall was looking at him, he was the only one still standing up. He was so embarrassed. He sat down at the nearest table, he just looked down at his food and blinked away tears. This wasn't how he’d expected his first school day to be like, he wanted to go home. Home to his friends.
