Maybe the thought of being an exchange student in another country has crossed your mind, but your nervousness stopped you from doing anything about it. I will give you and your family a piece of advice on, how to approach people from other countries with another culture, so you will get along.
In fact, I meet people from other countries every single day - for example in school. My school is very mixed. And because of that, we will meet people with different complexions, cultures, and values. That is the biggest gift we, as humans, can receive because we have the opportunity to receive the knowledge of the differences in our world if we approach it with an open mind, and maybe it could break down prejudices towards the unknown. Being with people with a different viewpoint can be frustrating, but also an eye-opener towards other perspectives. While being in another country not only will the culture meeting be challenging, but also the language itself will be.
The new circumstances can be very overwhelming, and you may be nervous or a bit scared, but my best advice, would be that you have to be open-minded - not only towards the people, but also the culture. You will have to fit into a new country, a new school, a new group of friends, food and a new family. And all that will be hard, but somehow you will get used to it, as long as you are open-minded and do not have prejudices.
