Hi, my name is x, I'm 17 years old. I'm from Denmark and want to tell you about my adventure as an exchange student in the US. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget.
It all started when my cousin was on an exchange trip, and she recommended it. So, my parents did some research and a half year later I was leaving for an exchange trip.
After eight hours on a plane, we finally landed, and I was so nervous.
I got to my host family, which was a family of 3. Mom, dad, and their 15-year-old daughter.
They brought me to their home and showed me my new room. I told them about Danish culture, and we compared Denmark to the US.
They also taught me how to pronounce words because I wasn't the best at speaking English.
1st day at school…
My sister followed me to the school because I didn't know where it was, luckily it was only 5 minutes away. We arrived and I started panicking because I have social anxiety and I thought it was overwhelming. All those new people, new school, new family, and I have a very long-distance home to Denmark. My sister left just before, so I just stood there all alone. I calmed myself and went inside... Felt like people stared at me but I just smiled and was confident.
