NRA holds gun show event in Texas days after shooting, Right or Wrong?
The 2022 NRA Convention is held this Friday in Houston, Texas. The event is the annual gathering that happens in a chosen state. The gun show is used to showcase their newest firearms and weapons to the public and potential customers. The convention was held even though just days after shooting in Uvalde, Texas. While the convention was held, waths of others convened outside in protest, advocating for gun control legislation.
Was the NRA wrong for not cancelling the convention? The convention was planned before the tragedy, and they obviously couldn’t have known what would happen before it was held and got very unlucky with the timing of the event. However, the shooting shouldn’t be ignored and is an opportunity for the NRA to step up to the plate and let the focus of the event to the shooting or the gun problem in general other than showcasing their firearms while people in Texas are still mourning over the deaths of innocent victims.
Gary Francis spoke out saying he opposed any gun control regulations in response to the Uvalde shooting.
“What happened there is obviously tragic,” he said. “But the NRA had nothing to do with it. The people who come here had nothing to do with it.”
