Moonlight is a strong, and vulnerability movie. The focus of Moonlight rests predominantly on Chiron, In the movie we follow the life of Chiron, who has the point of view.
Moonlight is comprised of three parts; it shows Chiron’s physical and mental transition as he transitions to adulthood.
Chiron lives alone with his mother who is a drug addict. Even though she loves his son deeply, she can barely take care of him. Chiron is a little boy who lacks love. Therefore, it is difficult for Chiron to be home, with a parent who does not take care of one.
Fortunately, Chiron knows a man named Juan who becomes a role model for Chiron. He is a drug dealer who one day finds Chiron hiding in a rundown dwelling. Juan takes him to his house and allows him to stay the night. Chiron grows close to Juan and his girlfriend, Teresa. He begins to see their house as an emotional refuge from school and his mother. Juan knows that Chiron is going through a difficult period in his life and therefore he makes sure that Chiron should feel welcomed in his house, he speaks sensibly and honestly to Chiron and gives him advice: “decide for yourself who you´re going to be”.
