“We Can’t be Good at Everything” is a short story about 25-year-old Miles Warden written by Emma Sloley in 2019. The story is about Miles Warden and his relationship with his famous mother Fenella. Miles is married to Jill and together they have a child named William. The story starts at Miles’s house where family and friends are invited to his son William’s 3-year-old birthday. Miles is very nervous at the beginning because he is going to ask his mom Fenella to do him a favor. Miles is going to ask his mother if she can babysit William a few days a week because he got a promotion at work. But Fenella says no, and Miles is disappointed because he hopes that Fenella will do a better job as a grandmother. They talk about it and Miles forgives Fenella.
