Summary:
The story is about a married couple, Ida and Jake. They’d been married for forty-seven years. They live in Texas on a range. Jake is unable to have kids so the couple doesn’t have any kids. Jake raises milk cows for living. A company called Texas A&M ran a test on the milk from Jakes cows and the test shows that the milk contains traces of lead and arsenic. Not more than the legal limit but it’s more than Jake can bare. The reason Jake raises milk cows is that he loves the thought of his milk feeding babies. That’s also why he gets so upset about the test results. People have approached them about the test and as the days go by Jake suddenly snap. He walks out the door whit a gun and starts to shoot all the cows. Ida calls the sheriff and he arrest Jake. Ida decides to leave Jake and move to Florida where her sister lives.
About the story:
The story starts whit in medias res. It’s told in third person – non omniscient.
