When Kevin and Sadie were small, they used to play together with their brothers and sisters. However, they were always getting angry at one another, and the war between the Protestants and the Catholics.
Kevin and Sadie have not met one another for years, then one day they just met one another a random place and they decide to get a cup of coffee and some fish and chips. After that, they walk up to the Cave Hill where they talk and just relax. They agree to meet again, the only thing that could and can destroy their new friendship, is their religion.
After they have met some times, they start to become good friend and after that, it just evolves. It’s also getting more complicated to meet one another because their families starts to now that they are seeing one another and some even starts to hate them because of that.
One they, they takes the bus to Bangor where they walks besides the seawall and enjoys the fresh air. After a while, they find an outdoor swimming pool that Kevin has his trouble with, because he is afraid of jumping into the water because he thinks that it looks too cold, but Sadie talks him to jump in the icy cold water. They do not catch the last bus to Belfast so they have to walk all the way back. As they walks in the side of the road they try to hitchhike, but it seems to that people is afraid of picking someone they do not know up. However, after a long time Kevin’s Uncle Albert, he drives them home, are most of the way because his car brakes down so they have to walk the rest of the way.
