In the beginning of the article it focus on the question, whether technology influences on the soul of sport or not. James Randerson, the writer of the article, claims that sports are all becoming like formula one, where the winner often will be the one with the best technology.

Then James Randerson brings up a lot of good examples of how technology clearly has helped improving sport records, for example in sports like cycling or speed skating. But nevertheless scientists still do not seem to have any worries about the influence of technology. Instead they focus on what improved dietary has done in the process of improving an athlete, and the fact that nowadays the Western World no longer compete alone but against countries from all over the World, which bring the number of competitors to a new higher level – which forces the athletes to perform even better trying to win.

In the end of the article, it is concluded that whether some like it or not technology is very important to the fact that the audience want even more freaky performances, and that new technology is the way to get this.
