A lot of people are concerned that children aged between five and thirteen can't tie their shoelaces. Those children are on their iPads and iPhones. But that isn't all negative. Because that generation is growing up in a technological world. That generation doesn't have to learn how to use an iPad or how to Google something in the school. How to tie shoelaces isn't the only "problem" those children will have to face. 63 per cent of the children don't know how to build a den, 59 per cent can't climb a tree, 79 per cent can't put up a tent, 78 per cent can't build a camp fire, 65 per cent can't make a cup of tea, 81 per cent can't read a map and 87 per cent can't repair a bicycle.67 per cent of the children can turn on a DVD player and watch a movie, they know how to use iPhones and iPads as they have grown up with them. But they can't tie their own shoelaces. Generation C is a generation that is and always will be familiar with technology. They're not going to use the knowledge of how to make a cup of tea, when a machine can do it for them. This technology generation isn't that bad. People always talk about these "dumb" children. But in 50 years the world might be all technological. Sure many kids grew up with a piece of chalk in their hand, a jump rope and had their very best friends just around the corner. But those times are over. Children nowadays communicate through social networks. This is both negative and positive. The positive is that you can communicate with a friend who lives in Japan. The negative thing is that those social medias take up all your time. So you should propaly look after your children if they're on social networks. Some parents are okay with their children being on social networks and some thinks it's too early. Some other positive things are the apps. You can download apps that are games - which focus on learning. For example Dora.Yeah, a lot of children can't climb a tree, put up a tent or make a camp fire, but isn't that in some way okay? Do we expect too much of the new generation? They are born with an iPad in their hands. They're called dumb children, but in some way, they are just prepared to the future. Times change - and that's okay. Our generation don't hunt animals to survive like our ancestors did many years ago. The conclusion must be that this new generation is not just the "dumb" children. What they know about technology and what they do on their iPads will benefit them in the future.
