When we were told to write a composition and find some typical American in a movie I chose Mississippi burning. We’ve just started a subject about America in general you could say. We’ve read about Native Americans and the discrimination and prejudice there’ve been through time.
Mississippi burning
It’s an authentic movie based on a FBI investigation.
Three men from North America travel to Mississippi in connection with freedom schools in the south. A project based on the civil right movement philosophy. They were respectively two white men and one black man. At their way home they were stopped by the sheriff and accused of driving too fast after that they were put in jail then to be released and after that murdered by a racist mob.
The three men are recorded missing and the two FBI agents Alan Ward and Rupert Jackson are being sent to investigate the case.
The agents have a hard time from the beginning. They soon find out that the town’s segregation is much worse than expected. The local police force ran a major branch of the Ku Klux Klan and the black community was suppressed and wouldn’t speak in fear of what would happen to them and their family afterwards. The agents realized that breach the silence in this town would be difficult.
