Green Street Hooligans: filmreview

The movie is about this american college guy, that studies journalism on Harvard. Hes name is Matt, and hes living for his studies, but that's all gonna change when his roommate on Havard hides drugs in Matt's propertys, and Matt gets the full responsibility for this, even though he know that it's his roommates drugs, and even gets blackmailed for not saying anything about it. Matt get's expelled from Havard, and he know that hes father wouldn't be pleased about that, since he's also a journalist and have high expectations to his son, so to avoid his father Matt is taking the first plane to London, to stay at his sister and her husband Steve. Steve didnt like that Matt showed up so unexpected and meanwhile Pete, Steves brother, shows up to ask for some money from Steve to a soccer game. Steve gives Pete the 500 dollars that he need on 1 condition, which is he had to take care of Matt that day. So suddenly Matt are hitting the local pub, and cheering at football games with Petes crew, the GSE. This world is completely new for Matt, and he thinks it's really rough being with Pete's crew. Its a world with football, firms, and violence, which is completely new for Matt, and suddenly he finds himself cought up in the middle of a fight between the GSE and another firm! At the beggining he doesn't want to fight, but when he gets a punch in the face's he drives completely mad, and are finally feeling freedom! Every firm now knows about this new ”yank” from the GSE, and alot of fights happen between GSE and the other firms. Bower, from the GSE, dont like this new ”yank” and are getting all this information about him, and are looking he's background and finds out he studied journalism, and that is now a good moment to get caught at some newspaper building with his Journalist dad. They find some notes on everyday, about Pete and he's gang on Matts computer, and Bower immidiatly beats him up, until Pete's stops him because Matt tells everyone that its just a journal that he kept for his whole life. In the end GSE are gonna fight their rivals Milwall, which ends up in a huge fight between GSE and Milwall.The movie contains alot of action, and i like the fighting scenes alot. The story is also well wrote, and combined with all the great music and effects, it just gives the perfect image. The song in the last fight fits extremely well in the movie, and it's placed perfect in the end. Elijah Wood is also a awesome actor, and even though i get that ”Frodo Baggins” image of him trough the whole movie, i still like it alot, because when you see him in scenes like this, you kind off forget it.Emil Abild Weldingh - 9b
