I think that Tsotsi (David) is the leader of the gang, and I can see that because all the other members of the gang always ask him what to do that evening/night.
Aap is the nicest guy in the gang, who isn’t so much into the killing part; he is more into the food in the refrigerators. He is afraid that Tsotsi is going to dump him too, like Boston and Butcher.
Boston tried to become a teacher, but he broke down somehow, and Tsotsi helped him, and took him into the gang. Boston was beaten up by Tsotsi because he kept talking to him about decency.
Butcher is the killing type, and what I mean about that is that he didn’t really care about anything else than killing people.
Their first job was in the subway where they killed a man on a train to get his money. The guy who killed him was, of course, Butcher, and he did it with some kind of sharp knife up his stomach. It wasn’t the point to kill him, but Butcher did it anyway, and that got Tsotsi really pissed.
The thing that went wrong in the gang, was in the beginning Butchers little kind of riot, and then Tsotsi beats him up. After that, Tsotsi finds the baby, and he gets insecure, and then he slowly begins to pull himself out of the gang by not talking to the other members, just trying to take care of the baby.
