“Looking for a Life” is a love story about Claire and her boyfriend. The two of them have run away together and are now facing the hardship of living on their own without money or any help from their families.
Claire, who is from a rich family, has fallen in love with a boy from a family with a lower social status. Claire´s family does not approve of him or their relationship, so in effort to stay together, they have run away and are now living in an old flat in Southeast London. In the beginning everything is good. They live on their love and Claire has brought a little of her own money. The money runs out faster than expected, so Claire and her boyfriend have to get jobs so they are able to stay together away from mainly Claire´s family. This is one of the things that drive a wedge between them. Even though both of them worked and were tired, it seemed like the boyfriend was the only one who tried to make an effort to stay cheerful. Claire doesn´t seem to care anymore. One of the next days the boyfriend notices that even though the school across the street has closed for the summer, four boys are breaking in to the playground. He cannot stop watching them and finds out that they are digging a tunnel under the wall. While Claire is wrapped up in her job, the boyfriend seems to give all of his attention to the digging boys. A few days later the boys finish digging the tunnel underneath the wall of the school and they just disappear. They simply run away like nothing has happened. An hour after this has happened Claire comes home with a letter in her hand. It is from her uncle´s solicitor. He has died and Claire has inherited almost everything. This is where the story ends. The boyfriend asks if they should go for a walk and talk and we do not hear anymore from them. The rest is left up to imagination.
