Why I find nelson Mandela interesting, is because, I think that Mandela is the symbol of democracy and human rights in the Third World. During their years in the national power, he was a man who always worked with love for South Africa and other African countries. I also think that Nelson Mandela is an example of faith, determination and patriotism. I also choose him, because of my personal interest.
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born 18 July 1918. He was born in Mvezo, a small village located in the district of Umtata, the Transkei capital. He had a traditional childhood as a member of the Tembu ruling family in the Transkei where he herded sheep and learnt to plough. Mandela's father, Gadla Henry Mphakanyiswa, served as chief of the town of Mvezo. When Gadla Henry was against the colonial authorities, they deprived Mphakanyiswa of his position, and moved his family to Qunu. Mandela's father had four wives, with whom he fathered thirteen children (four boys and nine girls). Mandela was born to his third wife, Nosekeni Fanny. Fanny was a daughter of Nkedama of the Mpemvu Xhosa clan. Rolihlahla Mandela became the first member of his family to attend a school, where his teacher gave him the English name "Nelson".
