'The Boat That Rocked': filmresume og analyse af 60'erne

The movie is about a young man, which name is Carl. He arrives on a pirate radio ship called Radio Rock, after he had been expelled from school. The ship is sending pop music from the ocean, because they may not send it from inside the country. The government is trying to make a new law, making it illegal to send it from the ocean even though the radio station is very popular among the listeners. Later Carl finds out that his mom had sent him to the boat because his dad, whom he doesn’t know, is on it. Meanwhile the government has figured out a plan to make Radio Rock illegal, but it doesn’t work, and the crew at Radio Rock decides to continue playing music and they do still have a lot of fans. Suddenly one day the engine explodes and the ship is beginning to sink, but the crew is still broadcasting. Many fans hear it and in last second the crew is saved by the fans because the government doesn’t want to help them. Radio Rock’s mission is a success – in 1967 there are more than 299 radio stations across UK playing pop and rock music.
