Introduction
I have chosen to write about September 11 because I find it very interesting on why it had such a big influence on the economy and politics.
We all remember what happened that day. But for a long time I have wondered; what was the World Trade Center? Sure, I do know all about what happened to it, but I have never found out what it was and who worked there. Was it highly educated people working with economy or who was it?
Why did the terrorists attack WTC?
And I would also like to find out more about the following:
How was the situation on the market after 9/11?
Why does terrorism have such an influence on the world economy?
What will happen to Ground Zero?
Did the event on 9/11 have anything to do with religion?
I hope to answer these questions in the following report.
World Trade Center
The World Trade Center (WTC) opened April 4 in 1973. At that time the two towers were the world’s tallest and largest buildings until 1974 when the Sears Tower surpassed them both. At first WTC were supposed to be only 80-90 floors tall, but the architects asked for permission to make the two towers the tallest in the world and therefore the two towers ended up being 110 floors tall. In order to create the World Trade Center, five streets were closed off and 164 buildings were demolished. When WTC opened critics named the two towers ‘Lego-Blocks’ – they thought the two towers were ugly, but later WTC became the heart of Manhattan, New York.
