South African Culture

Because of it’s many races, South Africa has one of the widest cultures in the world. White People, Black people and Asian people, all living in the same country side by side. One of the major indicators, is the many languages that is being spoken in South Africa. There are eleven official languages. The native language is Afrikaans, but ever since the colonization in 1654, British and Dutch, also have been spoken in South Africa.

But it’s not only the many languages that are so magnificent about this country. The religion plays a big role in the common South African mans life. And here it is also clear, that the colonization has played a big role. Almost eighty percent of South African people are Christian. That is the biggest percentage, in all of Africa. The main reason, as mentioned, is the the colonization, beginning in 1654. If you take a look at the other religions, Islam, is the second biggest, religion in South Africa. Another interesting thing, is the high amount of non-religious. In a part of the world, where religion is very important, to most people, South Africa has a Stunning 8 percent, non-religious. Compared with other African countries, which has 1<% non-religious, it is a lot.
