Baby: Baby is Jules’ daughter. She hasn’t got a mother. Baby is 11 years old, and will soon be 12 years. At the beginning of the story she describes everything as beautiful, but when the story got to almost the end where she begins to describe things as she as more scared. After her father told her about Kent and what he would do, she had a dream where she was followed by a pair of running shoes down the street. It must be Kent’s shoes, because she had never seen Kent, her father has just described him with some running shoes on.

Jules: Jules is Baby’s dad. He is not married, so he is a single dad. He seems like a quite young person, because he uses some slang in the beginning of the story. He had bought a new apartment because he is scared, that Kent will run him down with his car, because Jules had sold some of his stuff. Jules is wearing a fur hat and a leather jacket the day him and Baby moved into the new apartment.

Settings: Jules and baby are a low class family, because they live in a two-room apartment, and because Jules shows he is very greedy when it comes to money, as you can see the in the beginning of the text where he gets upset because he had to pay the cap driver 10 bucks. The new apartment they move into seems like a cheap apartment, because Baby describes the graffiti on the wall, and she thinks they are very pretty.
