Infiltration af hooligangruppen White Pride

The majority of the Danish population considers football as a harmless and fun spare-time occupation. To others it is equal to violence, threats to other’s lives and even murder. One of the aforementioned inhumanities was subjected Charlotte Johannsen’s close friend, which resulted in nine month’s membership of the Danish hooligan group, White Pride. by Sofia Ørum

The attackFour years ago the 21-years Charlotte Johansson was on her way home. She was not alone – she was together with Oliver, one of her best friends from childhood, who kindly wanted to walk part of the way with her. Simultaneously the football team AGF lost a very important match and the passing football fans looked a bit sorry for themselves. “I never regarded the fans as a threat – most of them were family men or people with peaceful intentions. I never thought of them as assailants - not even in my wildest dreams”, Charlotte Johansson says.Oliver was assaulted and thrashed by the hooligan group White Pride, who cheered for AGF. The following day when Charlotte went to the hospital to visit Oliver she was shocked. Her friend’s face and body were unrecognizable – he had lots of scars and bruises and he was sored all over. In addition two of Oliver’s ribs were fractured and he had the mark of a shoe-sole on the left side of his cheek.“At the sight of him I knew that I had to do something. Something of fundamental importance. I refused to turn a blind eye to the episode and the people who were involved. I decided to intervene”, explains the brave woman. The preliminary workCharlotte made inquiries about the group White Pride – the group that ruined her friend’s happiness. She wanted to be a part of the hooligan gang and she discovered that the members also participated in many Nazi-related activities. She found out which public house they often went to, which clothes they wore and how to behave together with fanatic minorities like the followers of White Pride.
