The film, This is England, takes place in the summer of 1983. Shaun is in the school where he is being teased as usual. He is a bit outsider and he doesn’t have much friends. But this day on his way home he meets a group of skinheads. The leader Woody tries to help Shaun, because he looks sad. Woody lets Shaun being a member of the group. Shaun is much younger than the rest of the group, but he is still very popular in the group and Shaun is really pretty happy because he now got some friends. At Shaun’s home he doesn’t get much help because his father died in the Falkland war and his mother haven’t the energy to help him.
Shaun is quickly an important part of the group and look like the other members. He is now a “skinhead”. And a skinhead has to wear: Doc Martens shoes, Ben Sherman shirt, jeans and of course suspenders. The group does often makes things that are illegal like smoking weed in uncontrolled houses. The whole group hasn’t really had that much to look forward to, because they don’t make today’s good deed. Shaun meets a girl called Smell who is a punker. And they fall in love with each other.
