Filmanalyse af 'Precious': Karakterer og temaer

Person characterizations regarding the main character Precious and her mother:

Claireece Precious Jones:

She is a 16-years-old girl, called Precious by her mother and the classmates. Precious lives with her mother in Harlem, New York in a social heritage environment, when her father abuses her, and than get baby with him, whom has Down-Syndrome.

And her mother is not good at neither, she always throw a coat and other things at Precious, for no reason. She not so good at school both reading and writing. She attends to be in 11th grade instead going in the 9th.

Precious always sit in the back of the class, because she is so shy and embarrassed to sit in the front of the classroom.

At home Precious had the mother-roll, she cook, clean and have to take care of her baby.

But it turns out, in the ending of the story/movie that Precious had improved both in school and in the social life.

Mother:

The mother is about 40 to 45 years old. I think she is unemployed and she don’t care about Precious. She is afraid to see the true, when her husband abuse own daughter, when her husband abuse Precious. She is frightened for the social services to take Precious and her baby with them.
