Dear Journal, it’s early in the morning and we just sailed out of Southampton. We have been through a lot of thing this morning. My brother George got thrown out, because he had an eye disease that I didn’t hear what was called. Now it’s only me and my sister. I hope that nothing will go wrong.

Dear Journal, we are now on our way to The New World. My sister Beth got off in Queenstown, because she didn’t want to travel without George. So now I’m all alone. Well now I don’t have to worry about them and that’s good, I guess.

It has been an event full day. I and some other Englishmen have been talking a lot and we have played a lot poker too. I won a hundred and fifty pounds on one night.
